Kinetic and spectroscopic investigation of the ethene-norbornene copolymerization with stereorigid ansa-metallocene-Ziegler catalysts
Ethene-norbornene-copolymers capable of being produced with metallocene/ MAO catalyst systems belong to a new class of engineering plastics because of their material properties. For optimal reaction control it is necessary to know the influence of the reaction conditions on the copolymer product. So, the dependence of the glass transition temperature and of the molecular weights on the norbornene concentration and the polymerization temperature was investigated, Further the determination of the reactivity ratios was of particular importance. If could be demonstrated that a first order Markovian statistic cannot describe sufficiently the ethene-norbornene-copolymerization. Additionally the reaction system was investigated by means of UV-spectroscopy to interpret the kinetic results.
