The resolution of natural rubber (NR) polydimethylsiloxane (MQ) binary blend properties by stress-strain modeling
In this work the large deformation stress properties of elastomers are used in extension as a basis for modelling blend behaviour This modelling procedure is applied in NR/MQ elastomer blend, in which a dispersed phase (MQ) is of lower modulus than the matrix (NR). The phases are mechanically coupled in a simple parallel manner. The modelling technique showed that curative migration increases the modulus of the NR phase by a factor of one and half.
