This paper describes the technical aspects of mixing plant automation as a typical batch process in the processing of rubber and latex. The automation system used here is based on a client/server architecture. The scope of functions extends from field level, via process control level, right through to the plant operations instrumentation and control level and covers the automation of the technical sequences, as well as the administration of orders, recipes, materials and inventories.
