Copolymers from bifunctional vinyl and allyl monomers
The copolymerization behaviour and the formation of networks of comonomers with two olefinic double bounds were tested by free radical copolymerization in solution. The products were characterised by investigation of the molecular weight and the thermal behaviour. The copolymers of vinyl and allyl methacrylate, acrylate and crotonate were considered in comparison with methyl methacrylate, N-cyclohexyl maleimide and N-phenyl maleimide. The network of the polymers with C-C double bonds in the side chain depends on the type of the copolymer and the concentration of the reactive groups. Crotonates polymerized with the vinyl or allyl group, in contrast to the analogous acrylates and methacrylates.
