The first step towards the production of a rubber compound involves obtaining the polymer through an appropriate polyreaction. New methods are constantly being sought which will make polymer production less expensive. The following paper presents a number of investigations into the production of polyoctenamer through metathesis polymerisation. The investigations show that metathesis polymerisation can be conducted in a twin-screw extruder. The products obtained are compared with commercial products and reveal highly promising properties.
