Variations in quality due to the batchwise production of compounds in the rubber processing industries requires release testing procedures, However, the usual used test methods and devices are not able to detect variations in the processing properties regarding the post-processing steps. One approach to gain a quick evaluation is using an extrusion-rheometer, Beside describing the apparatous and measurement procedure, this publication will show research results which allow an assessment of the mentioned assignment. The results prove that additionally to the description of the rheological properties an efficient device is developed which is able to evaluate the extrudability of rubber compounds.
