Many plastics processing processes are subject not only to melt shear but also to extension flow. This leads to an additional stretching pressure loss, which is often neglected in simulation programs. A simple method of taking into account this stretching pressure loss is presented, which can be easily implemented in existing programs. The computations agree well with experimental results.
