As far as the design of plastics machinery is concerned, developments are increasingly being targeted towards raising overall efficiency for the plastics processor. Consequently, innovative machine technology must be able to reduce costs and increase performance. Two concepts, "a high-speed extruder with direct drive" and "an injection unit with continuous plasticisation" from the fields of extrusion and injection moulding technology, are good examples of innovative engineering developments that increase machine efficiency.
