It is widely known that crosslinked, i.e. unmeltable polyethylene (PE-X), can be welded with electrical welding sleeves; it is even possible to butt weld PE-X to PE-I-ID or to PE-X. At the IKM in Essen, it has now been systematically investigated which welding parameters in butt welding lead tu high weld quality.
