Effect of Saturation and Lateral Interactions Between Adsorbed Particles on Diffusion from the Surface into the Bulk
Classification of kinetic regimes of diffusion of adsorbed particles from the surface into the solid at isothermal conditions is presented by taking into account (i) the energy difference between the surface potential wells and the potential wells in the bulk, (ii) saturation, and (iii) adsorbate-adsorbate lateral interactions. General equations are derived for describing different regimes of diffusion, and the corresponding kinetics are studied in detail.
