Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett-Films of Amphiphilic and Nonamphiphilic TTF Derivatives and Their Mixtures
We have studied the ability of two amphiphilic TTF derivatives to form both Langmuir films and Langmuir-Blodgett films under different experimental conditions. It has been found that these substances are capable of forming stable monolayers at the air-water interface and building up ordered LB films yielding Y-type LB films of high quality that were characterized by UV-vis and SEM having shown a reversibility behavior in the iodine doping process. Another nonamphiphilic TTF derivative, which does not form real monolayers at the air-water interface has been mixed with the amphiphilic TTF derivatives obtaining mixed stable monolayers and ordered LB films that show a conductive behavior after a doping process with iodine. Cyclic voltammetry studies of the three TTF derivatives and their mixtures have been performed.
