Preparation of Q-cadmium sulfide ultrathin films by a new liquid-liquid interface reaction technique (LLIRT)
A new method to grow thin films of Q-cadmium sulfide is described. The stoichiometry was studied by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques. The films were studied by electron diffraction. Optical absorption shows well-structured spectra with a blue-shift as compared with bulk cadmium sulfide. Photoluminescence maxima are observed at similar to 400 nm. A possible mechanism of formation of Q-cadmium sulfide films and its correlation with optical properties is discussed.
