Behavior of a Chiral Liquid-Crystalline Polysiloxane at the Air/Water Interface
The monolayer behaviors at the air/water interface of a newly synthesized side chain liquid crystalline polymer (PLC-4) and its constituent monomer (MLC-4) have been investigated by means of surface pressure-area isotherms, hysteresis curves, and W-vis spectroscopy. The orientation and packing of molecules in the monolayer with compression are discussed. The ability to form Langmuir-Blodgett films was investigated.
