The interest in nanomaterials and nanocomposites compared to classical materials is discussed, taking SiC-TiC as an example. This nanocomposite is produced by chemical vapor deposition. The microstructure is investigated by SEM, TEM, HREM and microprobe analysis. Needles of SiC and TiC are embedded in a more or less crystallized matrix rich in SiC.
