Preparation of Europium-Doped Barium Bromofluoride Thin-Films by Physical Vapor-Deposition
A new vapour phase deposition method of preparation of BaFBr:Eu2+ phosphor films for digital X-ray imaging computed radiography has been developed. The thin films were obtained by coevaporation of EuF2 and of the mixture BaFBr+10%(mole) BaF2. The doping concentration and the film thickness can be respectively controlled by the temperatures of the vessels and the deposition times. The dehydration of BaBr2.2H2O and the synthesis of BaFBr were studied by X-ray thermodiffractometry. No oxihalide formation was detected in these experiments.
