TlGaTe2 crystals were grown and purified by successive recrystallizations. A stoichiometric analysis gave maximum deviations of the nominal TlGaTe2- composition of similar to 5%. An X-ray diffraction study gave the following results for the structure of the obtained crystals : Space group Is D-4h(18), lattice parameters a=8.455A and c=6.871A. A morphological investigation of the obtained crystals reveals the fiberlike structure of this material.
