The Influence of D(10) Ions on the Luminescence of Bismuth(III) in Solids
The presence of In3+(4d(10)) in host lattices containing Bi3+(6s(2)) as a luminescent ion can have a drastic influence on this luminescence. In Y2O3, La2O3 and LaOCl it is quenched, in YPO4 a new emission occurs, but in LaInO3 there is no influence at all. Some results including Sb3+(5s(2)) are also given. The results are discussed in terms of a charge-transfer state. The effects are very sensitive to the choice of the host lattice.
