Cooperativity and Anticooperativity in Spin Transition Compounds - Macroscopic Approach and Orbital Modelization
The intermolecular interaction parameter occuring in the thermodynamical approach of spin transition proposed by Slichter and Drickamer is analyzed at the microscopic level. Then, an orbital model is proposed, to estimate this microscopic interaction between two neighbouring spin transition molecules. It shows that there is a competition between the direct interaction between the two metal centers and the indirect interaction through the ligands.
