Phonon-Induced 2E(-)-Tunneling in GaAs Quantum Dots
In this paper, we give a brief account of pair-tunneling in GaAs quantum dots. We show that while GaAs is a weakly-polar semiconductor, coupling to optical phonons is sufficiently strong to mediate a negative-U pairing state. As a result, two electrons can tunnel coherently from the source lead to the quantum dot as a Cooper pair would across a Josephson junction.
