Promotion effect of Pt on Cr/MgO catalyst in the reaction of cyclohexanol and methanol to 2,6-dimethylphenol
Catalytic synthesis of 2,6-dimethylphenol (2,6-DMP) from methanol and cyclohexanol was achieved by using magnesium oxide-supported chromium oxide catalysts in one step. The activity of Cr/MgO catalysts was promoted by the addition of platinum. Both TPD method and infrared (IR) measurements were used to investigate catalysts. The promotion of Cr/MgO led to the improvement of the stability and to the increase in the adsorption of reactants, and therefore, to the enhancement of the catalytic activity of the reaction.
