A geometrical approach for the statistical analysis of samples of planar particle images is suggested. Using ideas of the theory of random sets it yields figures which have the meaning of sample means or medians and numbers which play the role of sample variances. Various geometrical sample summaries are presented which may serve for the description of particle samples in an illustrative way.
