Epoxidation of styrene by tert-butyl hydroperoxide
The results of investigating the reaction of styrene with tert-butyl hydroperoxide are given. It is shown that the introduction of boron-containing additives improves the epoxidation indices. The influence of a number of factors on the epoxidation of styrene by tert-butyl hydroperoxide was studied. The technology for isolating styrene oxide from the reaction mass is much simpler than with the use of cumyl hydroperoxide owing to the formation of low-boiling products of tert-butyl hydroperoxide conversion.
