When used individually as additives in flexible PVC, both phosphate ester plasticizers and antimony oxide show excellent flame-retardant characteristics. But does an antagonism exist between the two additives when they are used in combination with each other as some reports have suggested?! The author attempts to answer this question by examining various PVC formulations.
