Altough the chemical industry is China＇s third largest after textiles and machinery, it accounts for less than 15% of total chemical production worldwide, and China is the world＇s largest importer of plastics. Setting the stage for an industry turnaround, the government＇s current five-year plan aims for future self-sufficiency and even export capabilities.
