Energy-Saving by Modification of the Vibration Mill
A vibration mill is the equipment often used nowadays for fine and ultrafine grinding. Research shows that what limits further improvement of the vibration mill’s grinding efficiency is mainly the non-homogeneous distribution of energy in the grinding space. This paper deals with how to increase the grinding effect of the mill, without increasing the vibration energy, by adopting two new devices for strengthening the movements of the grinding media to improve their grinding. Tests show that the fineness (median diameter) of ground quartz (96% SiO2) can reach less than 1 mum, the grinding efficiency can be doubled and the average energy consumption can be decreased by 20-30%. The paper also describes the mechanism for strengthening the grinding.
