Barbery’s method for correction of stereological bias in image analysis measurements is rederived and extended to cope with mathematical and typographical errors in the printed edition of his work. Correct estimating equations for model parameters are presented, and reconstruction of the composition distribution for particles is discussed in detail. Recently derived formulae for the fractions of liberated material in Barbery’s texture models are incorporated. The ease of use of Barbery’s method is highlighted, as is its use of random models for the shapes of particles and mineral grains.
