Design of Shallow Dense Fluidized-Beds Subject to Uneven Slumping
A simple analysis is presented which allows a conservative estimate to be made of the how rate and supply pressure of fluidizing gas required to refluidize an unevenly slumped bed. The solutions for orifice and sintered type distributor plates are presented in simple design charts, Two example problems are presented which show that significant increases in both gas supply pressure and how rate, compared with those required under normal design conditions, are needed to refluidize an unevenly slumped bed. The analysis presented is particularly applicable to shallow beds.
