Separation of a binary particle mixture in a vibrating fluidized bed of dense medium
A cylindrical vibrating fluidized bed, 148 mm in diameter, was set up to study the behavior of the separation of solid particles in a dense medium. Optimum operating parameters and construction of the air distributor were obtained experimentally. The major factors associated with separating efficiency and the stability of the fluidized bed are discussed. Based. on the experiments, the largest ratio of the volume of the particles to be separated to the bed volume is also determined.
