Attrition as a process of comminution and separation
Attrition is discussed as an important part of soil remediation technology. Attrition as intentional process removes fine particles and contaminant from the surface of primary material, i.e., soil. In any case, the efficiency of contaminant removal is proportional to the rate of fine particles produced during attrition. The relation between cleaning efficiency and the quantity of produced fine particles seems to be limited, because of the parallel processes, e.g., deagglomeration, desorption, dissolution, etc., which are also dependent on the character of the surface of treated particles. The article presents some facts and possible answers, however, a lot of questions and relations between variables still remain unsolved.
