The industrial uses of fluidized bed jet grinding are increasing but the basic mechanism of comminution within such a mill is not well-understood and their design and prediction of performance is therefore largely very empirical. The effects of free jet velocity, separation distance and the geometry of the set-up on the initial rate of grinding of coarse cracking catalyst have been studied using 2 mm i nozzles.
