Purification of protein A from Staphylococcus aureus by affinity chromatography using crosslinked macroporous glycidyl polymer
A new process for the purification of protein A from Staphylococcus aureus has been developed achieving purity of more than 98% with a recovery of 30%. The process involves extraction employing a specific buffer containing Toluene-Triton X-100-EDTA and subsequent purification using macroporous glycidyl copolymer. The process has been successfully used to purify protein A of both extracellular and intracellular origin. The process is simple, rapid, inexpensive and efficient when compared to many other reported processes.
