Some new relationships between temperature variations and sunspot cycles - 1. Long-period variations
We illustratively report clear relationships between global and regional temperature variations on one hand and variations in the peaks of II year sunspot cycles on the other from the year 1730 onwards. We show that a major change in the variation pattern (or state) of global temperature takes place during each rising and falling phase of the peaks of 11 year sunspot cycles. Also while a previous publication by the author did establish that both global temperature and peaks of Il year sunspot cycles vary at a similar main modulating frequency but in anti-phase mode, we show here that temperature variations at individual regions of the northern and southern hemispheres vary at frequencies f(o), (2/3)f(o), 1(1/3)f(o) and 2f(o) such that f(o) is the main modulating frequency characterising the peaks of 11 year sunspot cycles. These findings indicate that predictions of future global and regional temperature changes may be made on the basis of corresponding solar or sunspot variations.
