Magnetic resonance imaging applied to civil engineering materials
A magnetic resonance imager for use with civil engineering and construction materials is being acquired by the LCPC (Laboratoire central des Fonts et Chaussees). It will be managed by the LMSGC at Champs-sur-Marne and will be installed on the premises of the IFI (Institut francilien d'ingenierie). Numerous joint projects between laboratories and industry are contemplated and some are already under way. The general outlook for these research projects is to study transfers and phase changes in granular porous media, A number of supplementary research devices are being studied. These devices will:make it possible to submit samples to heating, cooling, flow, transfer and fissuring while recording images of their internal structure. This will allow us to discover the relationship between the macroscopic properties of materials and mesoscopic changes.
