Pole-Placement Algorithms for Multirate-Sampled Linear-Systems
This paper discusses methods for placing poles in multirate-sampled, linear systems. The primary method presented is a periodic variable-gain output feedback technique which accommodates a zero-memory output feedback design approach as a special caw. Output feedback gains are chosen to maintain consistent transient response characteristics over all intersampling periods and for any sampling strategy. Thus, different sampling regimes may be investigated while retaining a desired closed-loop pole structure. In this way, one can observe the changes in feedback gains with respect to sampling regime changes. This approach allows simultaneous selection of the sampling regime and the closed-loop poles. An example is included to illustrate the methods presented.
