Galileo Probe - In-Situ Observations of Jupiter Atmosphere
The Galileo probe performed the first in situ measurements of the atmosphere of Jupiter on 7 December 1995, The probe returned data until it reached a depth corresponding to an atmospheric pressure of similar to 24 bars. This report presents a brief overview of the origins and purpose of the mission. Science objectives, entry parameters and mission events, and results are described. The remaining reports address in more detail the individual experiments summarized here.
