On Brocketts Condition for Smooth Stabilizability and Its Necessity in a Context of Nonsmooth Feedback
The necessity of Brockett’s condition for stabilizability of nonlinear systems by smooth feedback is shown, by an argument based on properties of a degree for set-valued maps, to persist when the class of controls is enlarged to include discontinuous feedback.
