Study of a Thin-Film Electrochemical-Cell Based on (Pvp+agno3) Electrolyte
A new silver ion conducting polymer electrolyte based on polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) complexed with AgNO3 has been prepared using solution-cast technique. IR, electrical conductivity and transference number measurements have been performed to characterize the polymer electrolyte. The transport number measurements have shown that the electrolyte is a mixed (ionic + electronic) conductor, the charge transport being mainly due to ionic (t(100) similar or equal to 0.94). Using the electrolyte, an electrochemical cell with the configuration Ag/PVP + AgNO3/(I-2 + C + electrolyte) has been fabricated and its discharge characteristics studied. The open circuit voltage (OCV) and short circuit current (SCC) observed for the cell are 460 mV and 65 mu A respectively. A number of other cell parameters evaluated are also reported.
