Study on Diffusion of Iron in Iron Tellurides by Mossbauer-Spectroscopy
Mossbauer spectroscopy was used to study iron in the beta-, delta-, delta’- and epsilon-iron tellurides in the temperature range from 300 to 1000 K. Mossbauer diffusional line broadening was observed in all phases except the epsilon-phase. The activation energies for iron diffusional jump frequencies in the beta-, delta- and delta’-phases increased in this order with increasing tellurium concentrations. This fact may be explained in terms of the nearest jump distance between the iron atom and the neighboring iron sites.
