Molten-salt synthesis of Ba1-xPbxTiO3/BaTiO3 composites with controlled compositions
Ba1-xPbxTiO3/BaTiO3 composite particles with a core-shell structure were prepared by the reaction between BaTiO3 and molten PbCl2. The composition of the shell region of the resulting composite particles was controlled by changing the mole ratio of PbCl2/BaTiO3. By using a sintered BaTiO3 compact, a bulk Ba1-xPbxTiO3/BaTiO3 composite was formed. This contained compensational concentration gradients of Ba and Pb in the similar to 20 mu m thick Ba1-xPbxTiO3 layer, of which the outer region had the composition Ba0.1Pb0.9TiO3.
