Published pseudofunction theories are compared with the large-scale averaging method in the quasistatic case by numerical simulations of two-phase flow in a stratified medium for different flow regimes. In some cases, the large-scale averaging gives results that are as satisfactory as those of more complicated and more expensive methods.
