Modelling oil and gas releases from deep water: A review
This paper reviews the fundamental knowledge available to numerically model the behavior of oil, gas, or oil/gas mixtures released from underwater Many studies that were done to understand the buoyant jets and plumes of similar material are also reviewed. A complete reference is provided for models that have been developed to simulate oil and gas released from underwater Different types of models namely Eulerian integral and Lagrangian integral methods are reviewed. The paper describes the equations necessary to formulate a model and references are provided for the reader to find additional detail. State of the art in simulating oil and gas releases is demonstrated with case studies.
