In order to choose solvents for purification of liquid crystals on a physicochemical basis, we have extended the method of prediction of a monotectic reaction using the solubility parameter to liquid crystal-organic solvent systems. The efficacy of this manner of prediction is demonstrated for 35 systems. The possibility of using the solubility parameter for the quantitative prediction of the solubility of liquid crystals in organic solvents for the isotropic solution is revealed. The restrictions of the method are discussed.
