Composting of sweet sorghum bagasse with other wastes
In this work the composting of sweet sorghum bagasse - the residue obtained after sugar juice extraction of sweet sorghum stalk - in mixtures of wastes was studied. Bagasse with pig slurry and sewage sludge were used as raw materials for composting. The process was carried out in turned piles and the main process parameters were monitored over a year. The analysis of the composts obtained showed the products were adequate for use as soil amendments in agriculture, fulfilling EU recommendations for this type of product.
