Thermochemical Studies of Inorganic Chalcogenides by Fluorine-Combustion Calorimetry - Binary Compounds of Germanium and Silicon with Sulfur, Selenium and Tellurium
A general outline is given of the technique of fluorine-bomb calorimetry, including equipment, experimental procedures, sample purity requirements, post-combustion analyses, and interpretation of the results. Some recent measurements are described on Si2Te3, SiSe2, GeS, and GeS2. How the thermochemistry-based results for the dissociation enthalpies D degrees(m) of the gaseous diatomic molecules SiTe, SiSe, GeS, and GeSe correlate with the D degrees(m)s derived from spectroscopy is also discussed.
