The Dielectric Function of Porous Silicon - How to Obtain It and How to Use It
It is shown how the dielectric function of the solid phase of porous silicon can be determined from optical experiments. Information on electronic properties and surface effects can be obtained this way. With known dielectric functions of all constituent materials one can predict the optical properties of complicated porous silicon systems which can be useful for appropriate device design. Also the "external luminescence efficiency" can be computed for photo- and electroluminescence experiments.
