The initial mass of entrained water and the subsequent LB film drying characteristics, modelled using an equation based on Fick’s Law of diffusion, have been related directly to the M(2+) cation species and degree of incorporation into the film where it has been found that two different rates of diffusion through the outer LB layer must be considered.
