Reorganization of Metal Stearate lb Films Studied by AFM and Contact-Angle Measurements
The stability of multilayer Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of stearic acid stabilized with different multivalent metal ions (Cd2+ and Tb3+) was studied as a function of pH by contact angle and kinetic AFM measurements. The micrometer structure was studied in solution and clear reorganization of the molecules due to aging was observed. at high pH values an indication of overturning of the molecules during the deposition process was observed. Both reorganization processes were dependent on the metal ion used.
