Influence of Alkyl Length in the Miscibility of Several Types of Lecithins - Interaction of Doxorubicin with These Membrane Models
In the present work the miscibility of four lecithins, dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC), palmitoyl oleoyl phosphatidylcholine (POPC), dioleoyl phosphatidylcholine (DOPC) and dihexanoyl phosphatidylcholine (DHPC), were studied as well as interaction of two antracycline antibiotics, doxorubicin and epirubicin, with these model membranes. The miscibility of these lecithins did not present deviations from ideal behaviour. The interaction has been studied using compression isotherms of monolayers and penetration kinetics. Doxorubicin and epirubicin show medium surface activity, saturation was reached at 10 mu M concentration for both antracycline antibiotics under monolayers did not modify the shape of compression isotherms.
