Room temperature absorption spectra of PVA film in the UV and visible region of an external electric field are determined experimentally. The absorption coefficients decreased markedly after electric field application. At fixed wavelength the relative change in absorption coefficient with increasing electric field increases non-linearly and is saturated at high fields.
