Photocurrent of bacteriorhodopsin films deposited by electrophoretic method
The photocurrent of bacteriorhodopsin (bR) films fabricated by electrophoretic sedimentation (EPS) technique was investigated and compared with that of bR Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films deposited by horizontal or vertical dipping technique. Based on the photoelectric response and surface topology measured by atomic force microscopy (AFM), bR LB films fabricated by the horizontal dipping technique exhibit better properties than those by vertical dipping technique. The fabrication conditions in EPS such as. intensity of electric field and exposure time affected the photoelectric response of bR films. The action spectrum of bR films by EPS technique was well consistent with the absorption spectrum of bR. In comparison with bR LB films, bR films fabricated by EPS technique exhibited a higher photocurrent.
